Keep the historical value in life
“Sun-burnt wood sourced from old barns”
You have probably seen them; old barns, farms and mountain cabins high up in the Alps, often older than we are. Because of the extreme weather influences in the Alps, these pinewood planks have beautifully deep grooves. Bright sunlight creates unique colour patterns from dark grey to light brown, which in German is referred to as ‘Sonnengebrant’ (‘sun-burnt’). When the planks arrive in our storage, they have made quite a journey, the nails have been pulled out and the timber has been sorted by colour and length.

Barns that have stood for decades and that are often older than we are. This is where we get our oak barnwood planks. Due to the weather influences the barns have been exposed to, the planks have beautiful deep grooves and a weathered look. Unique widths of more than 30 cm are no exception! During demolition of the barns, the planks are carefully stripped of nails and selected on quality and length.

In addition to our normal oak and pine barnwood planks we now also sell barnwood sheeting. We stock the sheeting in 2 colours: in shades of grey and brown. The planks are sourced from Austria, from abandoned field barns in the high mountains of the Alps. This sheet material has been weathered by nature in the extreme weather conditions in the high mountain ranges! No two furniture planks are identical.
Over the years demand grew among our customers for reclaimed oak sheeting. Thus we started producing our own reclaimed ‘outsides’ sheets. After sorting suitable reclaimed timber, the top layer veneers are produced at the required thickness and glued to a birch plywood base. This creates a stable sheet that is suitable for interior applications! We also produce door panels, which are lined in reclaimed oak veneer on both sides.
