Doors with character, that’s what our custom old oak doors stand for. Each door is unique and adds charm and warmth to the room it hangs in. Wooden doors fit perfectly in a living atmosphere where natural materials are allowed to add warmth and a beautiful touch. Variations in color and structure are inherent in the material. Grains, knots, color differences, texture differences and wood cracks are part of the characteristics of barnwood wood.

There are many types of barnwood doors, whose function can also vary greatly. We produce a variety of barnwood doors for both indoor and outdoor use. Our barnwood doors are made from old aged wood, barnwood is also a collective name for old wood. This old wood was used to build and clad barns. Reusing it now creates a very durable product! Our wood is sometimes up to 200 years old! Over the decades, the boards have experienced the most severe weather conditions. This gives the boards a weathered appearance and the wood is pretty worn. The fact that the wood has lived through does not mean that it is worn out. On the contrary, it has matured over time and is therefore very suitable for furniture and doors. Especially because it has become very stable through years of drying.

What wood do we make our old oak doors from?

Barnwood wood comes to us from all over Europe, mainly from countries such as: Croatia, Bosnia, Austria and Ukraine. Our Barnwood which we use for doors can for example come from abandoned barns & old farms in the high mountains of the Alps. After demolishing these buildings, the wood is exported to the Netherlands. Once we receive the Barnwood, the wood is dried in a drying chamber. Drying kills living organisms. After the wood comes out of the drying chamber, it is stripped of nails. After these operations, the boards are brushed (outsides) or planed (insides). This is why we offer our doors in these 2 different looks.

A door made from Barnwood is a door made exclusively from old wood, our doors can be custom ordered and are available in a variety of appearances. The brushed (outsides) Barnwood door has a rougher and more robust look than a planed (insides) door. Because the wood is cleaned of dirt and nails during the brushing process, the beautiful grooves and old nail holes are clearly visible again. With a shaved Barnwood door, the surface of the wood is actually smooth in texture; we shave off the aged top layer. After planing, the markings of the aged wood actually show up nicely. Because we remove the top layer, the door also becomes lighter in color, creating a warm look in your interior.
